Low heating value liquid hydrocarbonaceous and/or solid carbonaceous hazardous waste materials from the production, refining and marketing of petroleum products are destroyed without contaminating the environment while simultaneously gaseous mixtures comprising H2 + CO i.e. synthesis gas, reducing gas, or fuel gas are produced. From about 0.3 to 2.0 wt. % of an anionic surface active dispersant and water (if needed) are mixed with the hazardous waste material to produce a first aqueous mixture. A comminuted solid carbonaceous fuel i.e. coal, petroleum coke is mixed with water and from about 0.02 to 1.00 wt. % of the dispersant to produce a second stable pumpable aqueous slurry. The first and second aqueous slurries are mixed together to produce a stable pumpable final blend aqueous slurry which is reacted in a partial oxidation gas generator as the feedstock. It was unexpectedly found that to achieve slurries with satisfactory rheological properties from mixtures of hazardous waste material and coal or coke slurries, it was necessary to add the dispersant to the coal/coke slurry as well as to the slurry of hazardous waste material before combining the two aqueous mixtures together.
Des matières résiduelles carbonacées, liquides et (ou) solides, dangereuses et à faible pouvoir calorifique, provenant de la production, du raffinage et de la circulation de produits pétroliers, sont détruites sans contaminer l'environnement, et ce pendant la production simultanée de mélanges gazeux renfermant H2 + CO, ç.-à-d. du gaz de synthèse, du gaz réducteur ou du gaz combustible. Environ 0,3-2,0 % en poids d'un dispersant tensioactif anionique et d'eau (si nécessaire) sont mélangés avec les matières résiduelles dangereuses pour l'obtention d'un premier mélange aqueux. Un combustible carbonacé solide, broyé, de type charbon ou coke de pétrole, est mélangé avec de l'eau et environ 0,02-1,00 % en poids du dispersant pour l'obtention d'un second coulis aqueux stable, pompable. Le premier et le second coulis aqueux sont mélangés pour donner un mélange aqueux final, épais et stable, que l'on fait réagir comme alimentation primaire dans un générateur de gaz à oxydation partielle. On a constaté de façon surprenante que, pour obtenir des coulis avec des propriétés rhéologiques satisfaisantes à partir de mélanges de matières résiduelles dangereuses et de coulis de charbon ou de coke, il fallait ajouter le dispersant au coulis de charbon/coke et au coulis de matières résiduelles dangereuses avant de combiner les deux mélanges aqueux.
