A device for transporting particles containing a magnetic material in a selected direction, comprising: a magnet (7) arranged to generate a magnetic field for retaining the particles on a support surface (15) whereby the magnetic field on the support surface comprises a high-field band, a low-field band, and a magnetic field gradient between said high- and low-field bands; means for advancing the high- and low-field bands relative to the support surface (15) in a direction having a component in the direction of said magnetic field gradient, whereby the high-field band is followed by the low- field band; whereby along said high-field band at least a first magnetic pole and a second magnetic pole of opposite polarity are arranged such that a first magnetic path on the support surface from the first magnetic pole to the second magnetic pole is shorter than a second magnetic path on the support surface crossing the gradient zone from the first magnetic pole to any other nearest magnetic pole of opposite polarity.
L'invention concerne un dispositif servant à transporter des particules contenant un matériau magnétique dans une direction sélectionnée. Ce dispositif comprend: un aimant (7) agencé de façon à produire un champ magnétique servant à retenir les particules sur une surface de support (15), le champ magnétique sur la surface de support comprenant une bande à haute intensité de champ, une bande à faible intensité de champ, et un gradient de champ magnétique entre lesdites bandes; un moyen pour faire avancer les bandes à haute intensité et à faible intensité de champ par rapport à la surface de support (15) dans une direction présentant une composante dans la direction dudit gradient de champ magnétique, la bande à haute intensité de champ étant suivie par la bande à faible intensité de champ; le long de ladite bande à haute intensité de champ, au moins un premier pôle magnétique et un deuxième pôle magnétique, de signes opposés, sont agencés de sorte qu'un premier chemin magnétique sur la surface de support, entre le premier pôle magnétique et le deuxième pôle magnétique, soit plus court qu'un deuxième chemin magnétique sur la surface de support croisant la zone de gradient entre le premier pôle magnétique et tout autre pôle magnétique proche, de signe opposé.
