2122352 9308899 PCTABS00021 An emergency scrubbing system guides rapidly escaping noxious fluid under pressure along an irregularly shaped non-linear delay path of travel, and admits a treating substance to the fluid to provide a preliminary treatment therefor to help neutralize the fluid. The preliminarily treated fluid is then treated at the exit end of the delay path for providing a final treatment before releasing it to the atmosphere. The final treatment is prepared as the fluid flows through the delay path for a predetermined period of time substantially equal to the length of time required for the fluid under pressure to flow through the delay path.
