A transurethral device (10) for delivery of a drug to the urethra of a human or animal body comprising a drug carrying element (3) which presents an elongate shaft (9) having a free forward end for insertion into the urethra of the human or animal body in a forward direction, the elongate shaft being provided with a channel (15) having an opening (17) in the outer surface of the elongate shaft for transport of the drug to the urethra. The device further comprises means (5, 30) adapted to draw a dose of the drug into the channel from a fluid supply of the drug. The device may further comprise a sheath (7) for releasably sheathing at least the insertable length of the elongate shaft of the drug carrying element prior to insertion thereof into the urethra of the human or animal body in which case the fluid supply of the drug can conveniently be carried in the sheath.
L'invention concerne un dispositif transurétral (10) permettant d'administrer un médicament dans l'urètre d'un corps humain ou animal. Ce dispositif comprend un élément recteur de médicament (3) qui présente une tige (9) allongée ayant une extrémité avant libre destinée à être insérée dans l'urètre du corps humain ou animal dans un sens d'avancement. La tige allongée est pourvue d'un canal (15) qui est doté d'une ouverture (17) pratiquée dans la surface extérieure de la tige allongée et qui est destiné au transport du médicament dans l'urètre. Le dispositif comprend également des moyens (5, 30) conçus pour amener une dose de médicament dans le canal à partir d'une source d'alimentation du médicament sous forme liquide. Le dispositif peut également comprendre un fourreau (7) permettant d'envelopper de façon amovible au moins la longueur insérable de la tige allongée du support de médicament avant son insertion dans l'urètre du corps humain ou animal, la source d'alimentation du médicament sous forme liquide pouvant ainsi être contenue de façon avantageuse dans le fourreau.
