Abstract A shower enclosure comprising at least one fixed wall element (6, 8) and having an entrance doorway (20) without doors. The shower enclosure is designed such that it can be constructed with only a few components, and nevertheless achieves a high stability. A central column (18) with an internal cavity (40) is disposed on one side of an entrance doorway (20); a shower valve assembly (26) and water pipes (34, 35) connected thereto are disposed in the internal cavity; and a stationary wall element (6) is sealingly connected to this central column (18). The central column (18) is configured as a separate, prefabricated unit with a removable cover (38) and enables both easy installation of the shower valve assembly and secure attachment of the wall element (6). - 17 -
