Dialysis solutions comprising aqueous solutions including physiologically acceptable salts and a polyglycol osmotic agent are disclosed. The subject solutions provide an improved osmotic gradient resulting in reduced dialysis times and/or reduced volumes of required dialysis solution. Moreover, the subject osmotic agents do not significantly migrate into the patient's blood over the time period of dialysis nor are the subject osmotic agents as susceptible to forming detrimental degradation products during gamma sterilization. The use of free radical scavengers is also described along with the use of a filter to reduce the introduction of bacteria into the peritoneal cavity.

L'invention concerne des solutions de dialyse contenant des solutions aqueuses ainsi que des sels acceptable sur le plan physiologique et un agent osmotique polyglycol. La solution de la présente invention permet de mettre en oeuvre un gradient osmotique amélioré résultant d'un temps de dialyse réduit et/ou d'un volume réduit de la solution de dialyse requise. En outre, les agents osmotiques de la présente invention ne migrent pas sensiblement dans le sang du patient durant la dialyse, ni ne sont susceptibles de former des produits de dégradation nuisibles lors de la stérilisation gamma. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de capteurs de radicaux libres ainsi que d'un filtre afin de limiter l'introduction de bactéries dans la cavité péritonéale.
