A highly efficient boiler made up of a housing containing upper and lower manifolds, serpentine tubes connect the manifolds on each side. The tubes are bent towards one and other to form a plurality of superimposed passages, straight tubes rise from the bottom manifold upwardly along the centre of the housing closing the plurality of adjacent superimposed passages. The plurality of superimposed passages on one side are so formed as to be of lesser width, depth and length than that of the adjacent superimposed passage on the opposite side. Combustion gases must successively and alternately rise traversing the passages from front to back and back to front until they exit the housing through gas outlets at the top. Liquid flowing through the tubes and manifolds being heated by the hot gases.
