The present invention relates to an in-vitro method for the formation of megamitochondria in cells, wherein the cells are grown m a suitable fermentation medium acidulated with lactic acid to pH values between 3 and 6 7 The invention further concerns H + ionophores, ionophores which catalyze the electroneutral exchange of K + for H + and inhibitors of actin polymerisation for the pre-vention or treatment of a disease in which inhibiting or re-ducing the formation of megamitochondria has a beneficial effect

La présente invention concerne un procédé in vitro de formation de mégamitochondries dans des cellules, les cellules étant mises en croissance dans un milieu de fermentation approprié acidifié avec de l'acide lactique jusqu'à des valeurs de pH entre 5,3 et 6,7. Linvention concerne en outre des ionophores H+, des ionophores qui catalysent l'échange électroneutre de K+ en H+ et des inhibiteurs de la polymérisation de l'actine destinés à la prévention ou au traitement d'une maladie dans laquelle l'inhibition ou la réduction de la formation de mégamitochondries a un effet bénéfique.
