A portable device (10) permits the dispensing of water, potable liquids, particulate solids and other like flowable feed material to dogs and other animals from a reservoir (2) mountably receivable thereon, into a pooling space for consumption. A trough (8) having a shape which allows nesting of the reservoir (2) therein is moveably coupled with the reservoir (2) to allow movement from a first mounted position in which the reservoir (2) and trough (8) are nested, to a second mounted position in which the reservoir (2) is brought out of nesting position and is clear of the trough (8). In the second mounting position, the concave interior of the trough (8) provides the pooling space, and an outlet of the reservoir (2) is in pool feeding communication therewith, to permit at least partial emptying of the contents of the reservoir (2) into the trough (8), when a contents emptying force is applied.
