A channel nut (1) which can be economically made for securing parts to metal framing (7) having side flanges (9a, 9b) with inwardly turned, hook-shaped lips (11) defining a slot (S) therebetween. The channel nut comprises an elongate body having a base (23) with inside (23a) and outside (23b) faces, opposite sides (25) and opposite ends (27), a width less than that of the slot and a length greater than the width of the slot. The base includes side flanges (29) and is preferably rhomboid in shape. A tapped hole (21) extends through the base.
