ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A safety restraint device for workers such as miners to prevent falls. The device includes a belt worn by the worker and a "D" ring secured to the belt for attachment to a safety lanyard having a snap fastener. A comfort pad considerably wider than the belt is mounted on the belt in such a manner that the integrity of the belt is not diminished. The pad comprises a relatively stiff backing layer and a woven synthetic fibre cushioning layer.
