A method of designing a residential fire protection system in a residential dwelling unit (R) are shown and described. The residential dwelling unit (R) has a plurality of compartments as defined in the 2002 National Fire Protection Association Standards 13, 13D, and 13R. The method can be achieved by: determining a minimum quantity and location of residential fire sprinklers (40A,40B,40C) required to determine a hydraulic demand calculation of the residential fire sprinklers (40A,40B,40C) of a piping network (100) filled with water and arranged to protect the plurality of compartments; and specifying the minimum quantity and location of residential fire sprinklers (40A,40B,40C) in a piping network (100) filled with a gas. Various aspects of the invention are also shown and described.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de mettre en place un système d'extinction de feux d'habitation dans une unité d'habitation à vocation résidentielle (R). L'unité d'habitation à vocation résidentielle (R) comporte une pluralité de compartiments définis dans les normes 2002 de la National Fire Protection Association 13, 13D et 13R.
