ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A removable, replaceable shield is provided to protect surfaces of containers, chutes and machinery generally defined as vessels, from the frictional effect of contents moving against them. The shield is made from resilient sheet of polyethylene. Such shields may be provided, for example, the main chamber or in the material removal tube of a tower silo for grain or other granular material storage, for snow plows, manure spreaders, grain harvesters, storage containers and the like.
