A method of suppressing dust formation in a particulate mineral material, which particulate mineral material has been dewatered from a suspension of said material, comprising the steps of transferring the suspension of particulate mineral material as a fluid to a deposition area, and in which the suspension is allowed to stand and dewater at the deposition area to form a dewatered particulate mineral material, wherein suppression dust formation of the material is achieved by adding a dust suppressing amount of a polymer to the suspension of the particulate mineral material while it is being transferred as a fluid to the deposition area, wherein the polymer is either a synthetic water-soluble polymer formed from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 4 dl/g or a water-soluble polymer that is a natural polymer or semi natural polymer.
Suppression de poussière. Un procédé de suppression de la formation de poussière dans un matériau minéral particulaire, ledit matériau minéral particulaire ayant été déshydraté d'une suspension dudit matériau, comprend les étapes consistant à transférer la suspension de matériau minéral particulaire sous forme de fluide vers une zone de dépôt, dans laquelle la suspension est laissée au repos pour se déshydrater dans la zone de dépôt, afin de former un matériau minéral particulaire déshydraté. Selon ce procédé, la suppression de la formation de poussière du matériau est obtenue en ajoutant une quantité d'un polymère permettant la suppression de poussière à la suspension du matériau minéral particulaire, tandis que le matériau est transféré sous forme de fluide vers la zone de dépôt. Selon ce procédé également, le polymère est soit un polymère synthétique soluble dans l'eau, formé à partir d'un ou plusieurs monomères éthyléniquement insaturés ayant une viscosité intrinsèque d'au moins 4 dl/g, soit un polymère soluble dans l'eau qui est un polymère naturel ou un polymère semi-naturel.
