A thermally-protected display of the present invention includes a display panel, a cover panel, a manifold and a blower mechanism. The display panel has a front panel surface and a rear panel surface and supports at least one signal element on the front panel surface. The cover panel is disposed in a spaced-apart relationship forwardly of the front panel surface of the display panel to form a plenum chamber therebetween. The manifold is in fluid communication with the plenum chamber. The blower mechanism is in fluid communication with the manifold and is operative to supply an airflow to the plenum chamber. The airflow enters an air inlet disposed at one end of the display panel and into the plenum chamber so that the airflow moves across the display panel and the signal element between the front panel surface and the cover panel thereby anticipating heat therefrom before the airflow exits the plenum chamber through an exhaust outlet disposed at an opposite end of the display panel. The thermally-protected display includes a housing structure which is operative to mount the manifold and the display panel to form an enclosure having an interior whereby the rear surface of the display panel faces the interior. The thermally- protected display can include a plurality of display panels arranged in a series of rows and columns and the manifold forms a frame surrounding each row of display panels.
La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif d'affichage protégé thermiquement, lequel comporte un panneau d'affichage, un panneau de couverture, un collecteur et un mécanisme de ventilation. Le panneau d'affichage comporte une surface avant et une surface arrière et supporte au moins un élément de signal sur la surface avant du panneau. Le panneau de couverture est disposé en espacement vers l'avant par rapport à la surface avant du panneau d'affichage, formant ainsi une chambre de ventilation. Le collecteur est en communication fluide avec la chambre de ventilation. Le mécanisme de ventilation est en communication fluide avec le collecteur et assure la circulation d'air vers la chambre de ventilation. Le flux d'air de ventilation pénètre par un orifice d'admission situé à une des extrémités du panneau d'affichage et s'écoule vers la chambre de ventilation, de telle sorte que le flux d'air de ventilation traverse le panneau d'affichage et l'élément de signal entre la surface avant du panneau et le panneau de couverture, prévenant ainsi l'accumulation thermique avant que le flux d'air de ventilation ne soit évacué de la chambre de ventilation par un orifice d'évacuation situé à l'extrémité opposée du panneau d'affichage. Le dispositif d'affichage thermiquement protégé est logé à l'intérieur d'une structure permettant le montage du collecteur et du panneau d'affichage à l'intérieur d'une enveloppe dans laquelle la surface arrière du panneau d'affichage est orientée face à l'intérieur. Le dispositif d'affichage thermiquement protégé peut comporter une pluralité de modules d'affichage disposés en séries de rangées et de colonnes, et le collecteur forme un cadre qui entoure chaque rangée de modules d'affichage.
