The blanket is comprised of at least two pieces of fabric sewn together to comprise a two-sided blanket body. One or both of the sides may be a bright pattern or a solid colour in prints and shades attractive to children. In addition, a number of ribbon loops, or "tabs" are sewn along the four border edges of the blanket, and extend out from it (see Figure 1). Each "tab" of ribbon around the perimeter of the blanket is of a different colour or texture than all others on that blanket. They may be wide, thin, solid, patterned, textured, or smooth. The loops of ribbon extend out from, and back into the seam between the pieces of fabric, and are sewn securely at that seam. The tabs function to provide an interactive and stimulating point of contact for children, both in a visual and a tactile manner. The block is comprised of six pieces of fabric sewn together to form the block cover. Each side of the block is a different pattern or colour than any other side on that block. In addition, as with the blankets, a ribbon loop, or "tab" is sewn into the middle of each seam on the block (see Figure 2). Each "tab" of ribbon on each seam of the block is of a different colour or texture than all others on that block. They may be wide, thin, solid, patterned, textured, or smooth. The loops of ribbon extend out from, and back into the seam between the pieces of fabric, and are sewn securely at that seam. As with the blankets, the tabs function to provide an interactive and stimulating point of contact for children, both in a visual and a tactile manner. The "fill" for the block consists of a square piece of medium density, 100% polyester, hypoallergenic foam, cut to fit within the constraints of the sewn fabric cover.
