A peristaltic pump employs an adjuster to provide facility to change flow rate without changing pump speed during operation of a pump, comprising a distensible, compliant segment of header tubing stretched around rollers mounted 120 degrees apart on a rotating wheel, and a tensioner to impose additional stretch to the leading segment of header tubing contained between two adjacent rollers as that segment is released from the leading roller. The additional stretch imparts a pulsatile flow to the fluid expelled from the distal segment.
