A holder comprising an assembly (1) for attaching the holder to an operating table (2), which assembly is connected to a supporting assembly (3) for a medical or surgical instrument (4) via an arm (105). At least one proximal portion (105a) of the arm (105) consists of a series of balls (108) and alternately arranged cylindrical members (109) forming ball sockets. A system for axially compressing the arm (5) uses fluid pressure to prevent the balls (108) from rotating in the respective sockets (109) and to lock the medical or surgical instrument (4) in its holder (3).

Ce dispositif comporte des moyens (1) de fixation sur une table d'opération (2) reliés à des moyens (3) supports d'un instrument médical ou chirurgical (4) par un bras (105). Au moins un segment proximal (105a) du bras (105) est constitué par une succession de rotules (108) et d'éléments cylindriques (109) servant de sièges aux rotules et disposés en alternance.
