A method of treating the surface of a metal base which is conducted prior to cationic electrodeposition coating and is used for improving throwing power in the cationic electrodeposition coating; a metallic material treated by the surface treatment method; and a method of coating this metallic material. The metal surface treatment method, which improves throwing power in cationic electrodeposition coating, comprises: a metal base surface treatment step in which the surface of a metal base is treated with a surface treatment composition comprising zirconium ions and/or titanium ions and at least one adhesion promoter selected from the group consisting of (A) silicon compounds, (B) adhesion-promoting metal ions, and (C) adhesion-promoting resins to form an anticorrosive coating film; and a post-treatment step in which all or part of the metal base which has undergone the surface treatment step is treated with a given solution.
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de la surface d'une base métallique, appliqué avant un revêtement par cataphorèse, et utilisé pour améliorer la macropénétration du revêtement de cataphorèse. L'invention concerne en outre un matériau métallique traité au moyen de ce procédé de traitement de surface, et un procédé de revêtement de ce matériau métallique. Le procédé de traitement de surface métallique améliorant la macropénétration du revêtement par cataphorèse comprend: une étape de traitement de surface consistant à traiter la surface d'une base métallique avec une composition de traitement de surface contenant des ions titane et/ou des ions zirconium et au moins un promoteur d'adhérence choisi dans le groupe constitué par (A) des composés de silicium, (B) des ions métalliques, et (C) des résines promotrices d'adhérence, pour former une couche de revêtement anticorrosif; et une étape de post-traitement dans laquelle tout ou une partie de la base métallique qui a subi l'étape de traitement de surface est traitée avec une solution donnée.
