A logic and control unit LCU (24) is configured to assess the viability of various subsystems in the electrophotographic marking process. The LCU determines a charging efficiency between a primary charger (28) and a photoconductor (18), establishes a reference voltage on the photoconductor, wherein the reference voltage corresponds to the charging efficiency, operates a first subsystem in a non-print production mode to produce a first resulting voltage on the photoconductor, and translates the photoconductor to a stationary sensor (50) for measuring the first resulting voltage.

Selon l'invention, une unité logique de commande (LCU) (24) est configurée pour évaluer la viabilité de divers sous-systèmes au cours du procédé de marquage électrophotographique. Ladite unité LCU détermine une efficacité de chargement entre un chargeur primaire (28) et un photoconducteur (18), établit une tension de référence au niveau du photoconducteur, ladite tension de référence correspondant à l'efficacité de charge, fait fonctionner un premier sous-système en mode production de non impression en vue de la production d'une première tension au niveau du photoconducteur, et transforme le photoconducteur en un capteur fixe (50) afin de mesurer la première tension obtenue.
