An assay to assist in the detection of prostate cancer in a patient, said assay comprising the steps of: collecting a sample of biological fluid from said patient, and measuring the amount of free IFG-1 and free PSA, or the ratio between these amounts, in said sample. Another aspect of the invention is a device to be used in the assay. The device comprises a solid phase matrix having a surface and first antibodies which can specifically form immunocomplexes with free PSA and second antibodies which can form immunocomplexes with free IGF-1. The invention further relates to a kit which comprises such device.

L'invention porte sur un essai contribuant à détecter le cancer de la prostate chez un patient comportant les étapes suivantes: recueil d'un échantillon de fluide biologique dudit patient; mesure dans ledit échantillon de la quantité d'IFG-1 libre et de PSA libre ou du rapport entre ces quantités. L'invention porte également sur un dispositif servant pour cet essai comportant une matrice en phase solide présentant une surface ainsi qu'un premier anticorps pouvant spécifiquement former des immunocomplexes avec le PSA libre, et un deuxième anticorps pouvant former des immunocomplexes avec l'IGF-1 libre. L'invention porte en outre sur une trousse comportant le susdit dispositif.
