The invention concerns a metal alloy based on aluminium and titanium whereof the aluminium content ranges between 80 and 90 atoms per hundred and the titanium content ranges between 10 and 20 atoms per hundred. The invention is characterised in that it is microcrystalline and outside thermodynamic equilibrium, said alloy being thereby resistant to oxidation and corrosion and having at the same time remarkable adhesion to polymer materials. The invention also concerns a reflecting coating of said metal alloy, preferably of thickness ranging between 0.01 and 3 mu m, covered with a protective film, preferably in polymer material. The invention further concerns a special mirror having specular reflectivity not less than about 65 %, good resistance to corrosion and oxidation comprising a substrate, preferably in polymer material supporting the inventive reflecting coating. The invention finally concerns parts comprising such a mirror, such as motor vehicle rear-view mirrors.
Alliage métallique à base d'aluminium et de titane dont la teneur en aluminium est comprise entre 80 et 90 atomes pour cent et la teneur en titane est comprise entre 10 et 20 atomes pour cent, caractérisé en ce qu'il est microcristallin et hors équilibre thermodynamique, ledit alliage résistant de ce fait à l'oxydation et à la corrosion et possédant en même temps une capacité d'adhésion remarquable à l'égard des matériaux polymères. Revêtement réflecteur constitué d'une couche de cet alliage métallique, de préférence avec une épaisseur comprise entre 0,01 et 3 µm, recouverte d'un film protecteur, de préférence en un matériau polymérique. Miroir spécial ayant un réflectivité spéculaire au moins égale à environ 65 %, une bonne résistance à la corrosion et à l'oxydation comprenant un substrat, de préférence est un matériau polymérique supportant le revêtement réflecteur de l'invention. Pièces comportant un tel miroir, par exemple rétroviseurs pour automobiles.
