A lightwave telecommunications matrix configuration for use in a fiber-optic telecommunications network includes a first set of interface circuits for interfacing with a first external fiber-optic circuit, a second set of interface circuits interfacing with a second external fiber-optic circuit, and a plurality of time slot matrices associated between the first and second sets of interface circuits for routing lightwave transmissions within the fiber- optic network. The matrix configuration is optimized for a variety of telecommunication switch architectures, including add/drop matrix, ring, and terminal configurations. Accordingly, the matrix configuration is easily scalable to a wide range of telecommunications network sizes and data rates.
La présente invention concerne une configuration de matrice pour télécommunications par ondes lumineuses destinée à un réseau de télécommunications par fibre optique. Cette configuration comporte un premier jeu de circuits d'interface en relation avec un premier circuit fibre optique externe. Un second jeu de circuits d'interface est en relation avec un second circuit fibre optique externe. Une pluralité de matrices à créneaux temporels permet l'association entre les deux jeux de circuits d'interface de façon à assurer l'acheminement des émissions d'ondes lumineuses à l'intérieur du réseau fibre optique. Cette configuration de matrices est optimale pour diverses architectures de commutation de télécommunications, y compris les configurations à matrices d'insertion-extraction, les configurations en anneaux, et configurations à terminaux. Il en résulte que cette configuration de matrices s'adapte facilement à une vaste gamme de tailles de réseaux de télécommunications et de débits de données.
