A shape-retentive compacted article is produced from 1,3-dibromo-5,5- dimethylhydantoin particulate solids by (a) granulating the particulate solids without use of a binder, and (b) pressure compacting granulated 1,3-dibromo- 5,5-dimethylhydantoin granules formed in (a) that have a U.S. standard mesh size in the range of 80 mesh to 3 mesh, again without use of a binder. So far as is known, never before have 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin particulate solids been converted into a compacted form by any method.

L'invention concerne un article compacté à stabilité de forme produit à partir de particules solides de 1,3-dibromo-5,5-diméthylhydantoïne par (a) granulation desdites particules solides sans utilisation de liant, et (b) compactage par pression des particules de 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoïne granulées formées en (a), lesquelles ont une granulation selon la norme américaine de l'ordre de 80 à 3 mesh, et ce, toujours sans utiliser de liant. Pour autant que l'on sache, personne n'avait jamais réussi, jusqu'à présent, à transformer par un quelconque procédé des particules solides de 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoïne en une forme compactée.
