There is provided a combination treatment for slowing or arresting the progression and/or effecting the regression of atherosclerotic plaque deposits in a mammalian patient, said combination treatment including the administration to the patient of a cholesterol lowering drug such as a statin, and the administration to the patient of an aliquot of a patient's own blood which has been treated ex vivo with one or more stressors selected from an oxidative environment, thermal stress and UV light.
L'invention se rapporte à une polythérapie visant à ralentir ou arrêter la progression et/ou favoriser la régression du dépôt de plaques d'athérosclérose chez un sujet mammalien. Cette polythérapie consiste à administrer au patient un médicament abaissant le taux de cholestérol tel qu'une statine, et à administrer au patient une partie aliquote de son propre sang qui a été traité ex vivo au moyen d'un ou de plusieurs agents d'agression sélectionnés parmi un environnement oxydant, une contrainte thermique et une lumière ultraviolette.
