Porous moldings of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene are obtained by injection molding ethylenes having an intrinsic viscosity of from 500 to 5000 ml/g, a mean particle size of from 100 to 1500 µm and a bulk density of at least 0.35 g/cm3. The polymer is molded in an injection-molding machine at from 160 to 260°C and an injection pressure of from 80 to 150 MPa. The ratio between the flow distance of the material in the injection mold and the wall thickness of the molding is not greater than 7.5.

Moulages poreux de polyéthylène de poids moléculaire très élevé obtenus en moulant par injection des éthylènes ayant un indice limite de viscosité de 500 à 5 000 ml/g, une dimension moyenne des particules allant de 100 à 150 micromètres et une masse volumique apparente d'au moins 0,35 g/cm3. Le polymère est moulé à l'aide d'une machine de moulage par injection à une température de 160 à 260 degrés Celcius et à une pression de 80 à 150 MPa. Le rapport entre la distance d'écoulement du matériau dans le moule à injection et l'épaisseur de paroi de l'objet moulé n'est pas supérieur à 7,5.
