The present invention provides certain novel naphthyl and dihydro compounds which are useful for alleviating the symptoms of post-menopausal syndrome, including osteoporosis, hyperlipidemia, and estrogen-dependent cancer, and inhibiting uterine fibroid disease, endometriosis, and aortal smooth muscle cell proliferation. Processes for preparing such compounds are also provided.

L'invention concerne certains nouveaux composés de naphtyle et dihydro permettant d'atténuer les symtômes du syndrome post-ménopause, y compris l'ostéoporose, l'hyperlipidémie et les cancers dépendants des oestrogènes, et d'inhiber les fibromes utérins, l'endométriose et la prolifération cellulaire des muscles lisses aortiques. On décrit aussi des processus permettant de préparer de tels composés.
