The compounds sorbicillactone-A and sorbicillactone-A derivatives of general formula (I) are disclosed and methods for production thereof. Sorbicillactone- A and sorbicillactone-A derivatives have anti-tumour and anti-viral properties in cell culture models. Sorbicillactone-A further displays inflammation- reducing properties. The synthesis of sorbicillactone-A and derivatives thereof are also disclosed.
