Abstract Novel 1,2-dihydro-2-oxo-3-methylsulfonyl-amino methylpyridines of the formula I: Image I in which R1 is alkyl having 1-5 C atoms, R2 is CN or 1H-tetrazol-5-yl and R3 is alkyl having 1-5 C atoms or cyclopropylmethyl, and their salts, have antagonistic properties towards angiotensin II and can be used for the treatment of hyportension, aldosteronic and cardiac insmufficiency.
