A light signalling device that relies on the phenomenon of retention of light by the human retina. The light signalling device is for use with a movable body and includes a plurality of light emitting elements that are provided to the movable body and arranged such that a predetermined movement of the movable body creates a virtual matrix made up of rows formed by a path of each of the plurality of light emitting elements and columns formed by the positions of the plurality of light emitting elements at predetermined times during the predetermined movement of the movable body. The light signalling device also includes a control system that controls each of the plurality of light emitting elements to flash at predetermined cells within the matrix and a sensor that activates the control system during the predetermined movement of the movable body.
