A plant is grown or regenerated while suppressing the propagation of bacteria and fungi, by use of a carrier comprising a culture medium and a polymer constituting a network structure wherein the culture medium is substantially absorbed into and retained by the network structure in a proportion of 10 % to 100 % of the equilibrium culture medium absorption of the polymer constituting the network structure. The propagation of bacteria and fungi is much faster, and the metabolic rate thereof is much larger, than those of a plant, and therefore the necessity of the supplement of a nutrient (such as water and saccharide) from the culture medium to the bacteria and fungi is much greater than that in the plant tissue. The culture medium which has been absorbed in the network structure comprising the polymer is hardly available to the bacteria and fungi having a high metabolic activity, unlike a usual liquid medium, but on the other hand such a culture medium is available to a plant tissue having a low metabolic activity, substantially equally in the case of the usual liquid medium, whereby the propagation of bacteria and fungi is effectively suppressed substantially without affecting the growth or regeneration of the plant.
La présente invention consiste à faire croître ou à régénérer une plante tout en bloquant la prolifération des bactéries et champignons à l'aide d'un support contenant un milieu de culture et une substance à haut poids moléculaire. Ledit milieu de culture est ainsi absorbé dans une proportion se situant entre 10 % et 100 % par rapport à l'absorption du milieu de culture d'équilibre par une structure de réseau se composant d'une substance de poids moléculaire élevé. Les taux de croissance et le métabolisme des bactéries et des champignons sont tellement supérieurs à ceux des plantes que les bactéries et champignons ont besoin de considérablement plus de nutriments d'apport que les tissus de la plante(eau et sucre notamment en provenance du milieu de culture). Le milieu de culture absorbé dans la structure de réseau est donc moins facilement accessible aux bactéries et champignons dont l'activité métabolique est supérieure à ce qu'elle serait en milieu de culture habituel. Par contre, ce milieu de culture est suffisant pour les tissus de plantes dont l'activité métabolique est aussi basse qu'en milieu de culture liquide habituel. Il est ainsi possible de bloquer sensiblement la croissance des bactéries et champignons sans affecter de façon notable la croissante ou la régénération de la plante.
