ABSTRACT A cylindrical post hole liner is described, with a cap, preferably integral with the cylinder, across the upper end thereof. The cap is readily removable, but only by means of a tool, such as a hand saw. For example, the cylinder may be provided with radial slots just below the cap portion thereof, so that the cap may be easily removed simply by inserting a hand saw in the slots and using it to cut through the remaining plastic to join the slots and thereby separate the cap from the cylinder. Preferably, lifting holes are provided through the wall of the cylinder near the top, to facilitate lifting, moving, installing and aligning the liner. The bottom of the liner may be entirely open, but preferably there is a partial bottom, with a suitable opening or drain holes. Variations in overall length can be accommodated by structuring the liner in two sections, namely an upper section which provides the capped end, and a lower section which mate with with upper section, such as via a bell end being provided at the upper end of the lower section or at the lower end of the upper section.
