In a FLIR/laser based targeting and imaging system, the ability to recognize, detect, locate, and/or track targets in an area of interest is significantly improved by reducing the fixed and dynamic alignment errors between the IR LOS and the laser LOS. Fixed alignment errors between the IR LOS and the laser LOS. Fixed alignment errors are reduced with an improved internal boresight module (Fig. 10) and corresponding boresight method. Dynamic alignment errors are reduced with an opto-electric subsystem that employs a single pitch (405) bearing and a common pitch/yaw afocal (401) for both the laser energy and the IR energy. A segmented window (Fig. 17) in the system housing includes a circular EMI grid pattern (Fig. 19) which significantly reduces the amount of off-axis EMI entering the optical pathways, and improved signal processing techniques (Fig. 26) are employed to enhance the quality of the IR image after the image has been digitized.
Dans un système de ciblage et d'imagerie basé sur un dispositif du type FLIR/laser on a amélioré sensiblement l'aptitude à reconnaître, détecter, localiser et/ou poursuivre des cibles dans une zone de recherche, en réduisant les erreurs d'alignement fixe et dynamique existant entre la portée optique IR et la portée optique du laser. On réduit les erreurs d'alignement fixe à l'aide d'un module de pointeur interne amélioré et d'un procédé de pointage correspondant. On réduit les erreurs d'alignement dynamique à l'aide d'un sous-système opto-électrique qui emploie un seul relèvement de tangage et un tangage/lacet commun afocal à la fois pour l'énergie du laser et l'énergie IR. Une fenêtre segmentée pratiquée dans le boîtier du système comprend un motif à grille à interférence électromagnétique circulaire qui réduit significativement la quantité d'interférence électromagnétique décentrée qui pénètre dans les voies optiques. On utilise des techniques améliorées de traitement du signal pour améliorer la qualité de l'image IR après que cette dernière ait été numérisée.
