A galvanic skin response measuring device utilizing a sensor apparatus that is stronger and more reliable than prior art sensors is described. A galvanic skin response measuring device measures and indicates both trait and state arousal simultaneously by utilizing a bias level control circuit which displays the setting of the bias level representative of trait arousal and which biases the signal at a level allowing an amplifier to amplify the small electrical signal representative of state arousal. Following the state arousal amplifier are circuits that provide to display an audible and/or visual indication of state arousal. An auditory stereo input allows the playing of pre-recorded material or orally delivered messages for psychotherapy.
