The process comprising reacting an ethylenically unsaturated polymer in latex form, hydrazine, and an oxidant, followed by coagulation and filtration in order to isolate the reduced rubber. The process utilizes a reaction mixture containing a high molar ratio of hydrazine to unsaturated polymer.
