A telecommunication system for transmitting and receiving data organized in packet of variable length among proprietary station by routing the data through a network equipped with switches handling data organized in standard packets or cells (ATM) each composed of a header followed by a payload of standard length. The system including: a first downstream interface (A), at transmitting end station, where cells of non standard size are initially formed; nodes (non standard nodes) equipped with at least one non standard interface adaptor means, able to handle non standard size cells; standard nodes (standard ATM world) equipped with standard interfaces only, able to handle standard size cells.

L'invention concerne un système de télécommunication pour émettre et recevoir des données organisées en paquets de longueur variable entre des stations privées, par acheminement des données dans un réseau équipé de commutateurs manipulant des données organisées en paquets ou cellules standard (ATM), composé(e)s chacun(e) d'un en-tête suivi d'une charge utile de longueur standard. Ce système comprend une première interface aval (A), située à la station de l'extrémité transmission, où des cellules de format non standard sont tout d'abord formées ; des noeuds (noeuds non standard) équipés d'au moins un moyen d'adaptation d'interface non standard, pouvant manipuler des cellules de format non standard ; des noeuds standard (monde ATM standard) équipés uniquement d'interfaces standard, pouvant manipuler des cellules de format standard.
