Image A drill steel is formed by providing a steel (12) and applying twist to the steel. The twist is applied by locating one end (14) of the steel in a movable first grip (26) and an intermediate portion (16) in a stationary second grip (28) that holds the steel against torsional movement, rotating first grip (26) in order to twist the steel (12) and moving first grip longitudinally away from second grip. Second grip (28) includes means to heat the drill steel.

Cette invention concerne un foret en acier réalisé à partir d'une tige en acier (12) en appliquant une torsion à ladite tige dont on place une extrémité (14) dans un premier mandrin mobile (26) et une partie intermédiaire (16) dans un second mandrin fixe (28) qui empêche la tige de tourner. Le procédé opératoire suppose la mise en rotation d'un premier mandrin (26) pour tordre la tige d'acier (12) et l'éloignement dudit mandrin du second mandrin équipé d'un moyen de chauffage de la tige d'acier.
