A method of processing a broadband optical elastic scattering spectrum obtained from tissue comprises the steps of: obtaining, in a plurality of fitting ranges of wavelength, fitting parameters giving a best fit to the spectrum in the respective fitting ranges; and recording the fitting parameters as a parameter set representing the spectrum; wherein in at least one fitting range the fit is to the absorption of at least one predetermined component, for example, haemoglobin, and in the reminder of the fitting ranges the fit is to a smooth function. The fitting parameters may be used for classifying the tissue, preferably using hierarchical cluster analysis. An apparatus for obtaining elastic scattering spectra from tissue and adapted to process the spectra using the above method is also claimed.
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'un spectre de diffusion optique élastique à bande large provenant d'un tissu, qui consiste à obtenir, dans plusieurs plages d'ajustement de longueur d'onde, des paramètres d'ajustement donnant au spectre un meilleur ajustement dans les plages d'ajustement respectives, et à enregistrer les paramètres d'ajustement comme ensemble de paramètres représentant le spectre. Dans au moins une plage d'ajustement, l'ajustement s'effectue par rapport à l'absorption d'au moins un composant prédéterminé, par exemple l'hémoglobine, et dans le reste des plages d'ajustement, l'ajustement s'effectue de préférence par rapport à une fonction continue. Les paramètres d'ajustement peuvent être utilisés pour classifier le tissu, de préférence par une analyse de groupement hiérarchique. L'invention concerne également un appareil permettant d'obtenir des spectres de diffusion élastique à partir de tissus et de traiter les spectres selon le procédé précité.
