A system and method for optional upgrading of a software application on a wireless device during the execution of the software application. The system includes receiving a request to replace a resident executable application with a different version of the application. The system further includes detecting the active execution of the resident executable application. The system also includes receiving, via a network, the different version of the application. Also, the system includes storing the different version of the application in a temporary location in response to detecting the active execution of the resident executable application. In addition, the system includes terminating the active execution of the resident executable application. The system also includes overwriting the resident executable application with the different version of the application stored in the temporary location. Further, the system includes initiating active execution of the different version of the application.
Cette invention se rapporte à un système et à un procédé servant à la mise à niveau optionnelle d'une application logicielle sur un dispositif sans fil pendant l'exécution de l'application logicielle. Ce procédé consiste à recevoir une demande de remplacement d'une application exécutable résidente par une version différente de l'application. Ce procédé consiste en outre à détecter l'exécution active de l'application exécutable résidente, puis à recevoir, par l'intermédiaire d'un réseau, la version différente de l'application et à mémoriser cette version différente de l'application dans un emplacement temporaire en réponse à la détection de l'exécution active de l'application exécutable résidente. Ce procédé consiste en outre à terminer l'exécution active de l'application exécutable résidente, puis à écraser l'application exécutable résidente par la version différente de l'application mémorisée dans l'emplacement temporaire, et enfin à initialiser l'exécution active de la version différente de l'application.
