Hydrogen-plasma modification of fluorinated polymers reduces the surface chemistry of this polymer removing fluorine, leaving behind a carbon-enriched surface that is further plasma processed into a hydrophilic surface for a lens material to be inserted into the ocular environment.

L'invention concerne la modification au plasma d'hydrogène de polymères fluorés réduisant la chimie de surface de ce fluor éliminant le polymère. Ainsi la surface est enrichie au carbone et traitée au plasma pour être transformée par la suite en une surface hydrophile pour une matière de verre de contact à insérer dans l'environnement oculaire.
