A device (1) comprises an inertial reference station (7) for measuring the aircraft heading, an inertial reference unit (9) which is mountable on the wheel of a nose landing gear by means of a fixing system and is used for measuring the heading of said landing gear in a non-steering position and a data processing unit (11) comprising means (12, 13) for carrying out a comparison between the measured heading of the nose landing gear and the measured aircraft heading in such a way that the orientation of said nose landing gear is calculated with respect to the aircraft body.
Le dispositif (1) comporte une centrale de référence inertielle (7) qui est susceptible de mesurer le cap de l'avion, une unité de référence inertielle (9) qui est susceptible d'être montée, par l'intermédiaire d'un système de fixation, sur une roue du train d'atterrissage avant et qui est alors susceptible de mesurer le cap dudit train d'atterrissage avant dans une position correspondant à une absence de braquage, et une unité de traitement d'informations (11) comportant des moyens (12, 13) permettant de réaliser la comparaison entre ledit cap mesuré du train d'atterrissage avant et ledit cap mesuré de l'avion de manière à pouvoir en déduire l'orientation dudit train d'atterrissage avant par rapport au fuselage de l'avion.
