Neural stimulation and optical monitoring systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus for treating a neural condition includes a signal delivery device configured to be implanted into a patient proximate to a skull of the patient and positioned to apply electromagnetic signals to one or more target sites within the patient. The apparatus also includes an implantable optical monitoring assembly configured to monitor optical properties at one or more optical monitoring sites within the patient. The apparatus further includes a controller configured to be implanted into the patient. The controller is operatively coupled to the signal delivery device and the optical monitoring assembly and programmed to control both the signal delivery device and the optical monitoring assembly. The controller also includes a power source to power both the signal delivery device and the optical monitoring assembly.
L~invention concerne un système de stimulation neural de même que des systèmes et procédés de surveillance optique. Selon un mode de réalisation, un appareil de traitement d~une condition neurale comporte un dispositif d~injection de signaux configuré pour s~implanter chez un patient près du crâne de celui-ci et positionné pour appliquer des signaux électromagnétiques à un ou plusieurs sites cibles du patient. L~appareil comporte également un ensemble de surveillance optique implantable configuré pour surveiller des propriétés optiques en un ou plusieurs sites de surveillance optique chez le patient. L~appareil comporte en outre un contrôleur configuré pour s~implanter chez le patient. Le contrôleur est couplé de manière opérationnelle au dispositif d~injection de signaux et à l~ensemble de surveillance optique et programmé pour commander à la fois le dispositif d~injection de signaux et l~ensemble de surveillance optique. Le contrôleur comporte également une source d~alimentation pour alimenter à la fois le dispositif d~injection de signaux et l~ensemble de surveillance optique.
