The specification discloses a process for recovering chlorine from a chlorinator waste. The process involves treating the chlorinator waste with oxygen in a fluidised bed under conditions which promote the conversion of metal chlorides to metal oxides and discourage the oxidation of carbon contained in the waste. Suitable conditions include a bed temperature in a range from 400 to 700 °C, a superficial velocity in a range from 0.2 to 1 metre/second and a stoichiometric ratio, R, in a range from 0.2 to 1.2.

L'invention concerne un procédé de récupération de chlore dans des déchets provenant d'un injecteur de chlore. Ledit procédé consiste à traiter les déchets de l'injecteur de chlore à l'aide d'oxygène, dans un lit fluidisé, dans des conditions favorisant la conversion des chlorures métalliques en oxydes métalliques et ne favorisant pas l'oxydation du carbone contenu dans les déchets. Les conditions appropriées sont une température de lit de l'ordre de 400 à 700 ·C, une vitesse superficielle de l'ordre de 0,2 à 1 mètre/seconde et un rapport stoechiométrique, R, de l'ordre de 0,2 à 1,2.
