ABSTRACT A process for the bleaching of lignocellulosic pulps using persulphate chemicals are admixed with conventional oxidizing agents selected from hydrogen peroxide and chlorine dioxide and combination thereof. A transition metal salt catalyst is added to effect improved pulp delignification with the combined pulp bleaching reagents of persulphate and chlorine dioxide.
