Abstract of the Disclosure: In a process for preparing a final aqueous polymer dispersion having a solids volume concentration of 50% by volume or more, free-radically polymerizable monomers other than vinyl or vinylidene halides are subjected to a free radical aqueous emulsion polymerization by the feed stream addition process in the presence of an aqueous starting polymer dispersion whose dispersed starting polymer particles have a certain minimum diameter.
