A process for producing a high-purity vinylpyrrolidone polymer which dissolves in an organic solvent to give a transparent solution. The process comprises using a redox initiator comprising an organic peroxide and a sulfurous acid salt to polymerize vinylpyrrolidone and bringing the resultant polymer into contact with an anion-exchange resin to purify it.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un polymère de vinylpirrolidone de haute pureté se dissolvant dans un solvant organique en vue de produire une solution transparente. Le procédé consiste à utiliser un initiateur d'oxydoréduction contenant un peroxyde organique et un sel d'acide sulfureux afin de polymériser le vinylpirrolidone et de mettre le polymère qui en résulte en contact avec la résine d'échange d'anions pour le purifier.
