A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a recording medium which includes a main body on which the recording medium is loaded, a lid rotatably mounted on the main body for opening and closing a loading device of the main body on which the recording medium is loaded, wherein a lock member is movably mounted on one of the main body and the lid and a locked part and a lid lock detection switch are mounted on the other of the main body and the lid, the lock member being engaged with the locked part and actuating the lid lock detection switch when the lid is moved to a locking position in a state of closing the loading device, the lock member when moved .to a lock release position being disengaged from the locked part and released from its operation on the lid lock detection switch.
