The invention concerns a device comprising a controller of polarisation (FCP1) and a generator (DDG1) of differential delay between two modes of orthogonal polarisation. Said detector and said generator are located between the connecting fibre (LF) and the receiving terminal (RX). An automatic control device (SCU1) measures the degree of polarisation (PL) of the optical signal restored by the differential delay generator, and controls the polarisation controller (FPC1) so as to maximise the degree of polarisation measured (PL). The invention is applicable to long distance optical transmission systems.

Ce dispositif comporte un contrôleur de polarisation (FCP1) et un générateur (DDG1) de retard différentiel entre deux modes de polarisation orthogonaux. Ce contrôleur et ce générateur sont intercalés entre la fibre de liaison (LF) et le terminal récepteur (RX). Un dispositif d'asservissement (SCU1) mesure le degré de polarisation (PL) du signal optique restitué par le générateur de retard différentiel, et asservit le contôleur de polarisation (FPC1) de façon à maximiser le degré de polarisation mesuré (PL). Application aux systèmes de transmission optique à grande distance.
