A method for treating or preventing symptoms associated with oral autoimmune diseases comprises treating a patient with an oral topical formulation of azathioprine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The azathioprine formulation may be used in the form of an oral rinse to topically treat areas of oral tissue inflammation and ulceration caused by the onset of oral autoimmune diseases, such as GVHD. The oral topical formulation of azathioprine may also be used in combination with other topical or systemic immunosuppressants or anti-inflammatory drugs.
La présente invention concerne le traitement symptomatique, curatif ou préventif, d'affections auto-immunes de la sphère orale. Ce traitement à base d'azothioprine, ou de l'un de ses sels pharmaceutiquement admis, utilise une formulation en bain de bouche permettant une application locale capable de traiter les tissus sièges de l'inflammation ou de l'ulcération consécutives à des affections auto-immunes telles que la réaction du greffon contre l'hôte. Cette formulation orale d'azathioprine en application locale peut également s'utiliser en association avec d'autres immunosuppresseurs topiques ou systémiques ou d'autres médicaments anti-inflammatoires.
