The invention relates to the use of IGF-I or analogues thereof in the manufacture of a medicament useful in the prevention of diabetes, in delaying the clinical onset of diabetes and with protective effect against diabetes. It also relates to the use of IGF-I or analogues thereof in the manufacture of a medicament preventing beta cell destruction and the regulation of T cells in subjects which are at high risk of development of diabetes. The invention also relates to the method for protecting against diabetes, prevention of diabetes and delaying the clinical onset of diabetes by administration of IGF-I or analogues thereof.

Cette invention concerne l'utilisation du facteur de croissance de type I proche de l'insuline (IGF-I) ou de ses analogues dans la fabrication d'un médicament utile pour prévenir le diabète, retarder l'apparition clinique du diabète, et produire un effet protecteur contre le diabète; ainsi que l'utilisation de l'IGF-I ou de ses analogues dans la fabrication d'un médicament qui empêche la destruction des cellules bêta et la régulation des lymphocytes T chez des sujets grandement susceptibles de développer un diabète.
